Cafec Abaca+: more than just a filter

The Abaca+ paper filters are ultra-thin and allow for high extraction in your filter coffee. The thin abaca paper ensures a faster flow rate, allowing you to grind finer for your pour-overs without the paper filter clogging. The result is a coffee that is clean and complex in flavor, full of sweetness.

At the Cafec factory, they are doing great work. Instead of using a conventional paper filter press, they have developed an innovative, proprietary method. With this method, the paper is heated and stretched so that it gains a refined, crinkled texture on both sides. This enlarges the surface area of the paper, which has a beneficial effect on the flow of water.

Effect on flavor This paper development technique also impacts the final taste of the coffee. Because the fiber network is woven so finely, many small holes trap fine coffee particles. This leads to a coffee that is clean and presents the flavor profile more clearly.

Complete control over flow rate Cafec's product designers have taken it a step further by releasing different types of paper. The variations come from adjustments in thickness, compactness, and the height of the paper network.

The choice of paper type will influence the flow rate of water, which proves to be an interesting variable when brewing delicious filter coffee.

ABACA & environmental consciousness The fiber used comes from the Abacá plant. It is four times stronger than regular wood pulp and is half as thin as standard wood fibers. This emphasizes the strength and functionality of the product.

Additionally, the wood harvested for the production of these filters carries the FSC certification. This certification stands for well-managed forests and contributes positively to forest conservation.
